- We are having a problem with a model 550 running AIX 3.2 and
- with a 24 bit Sabine adapter for the display. The problem has
- been with us for the past year ever since we got the system. I
- originally chalked it up to a software problem under X11R3 and AIX 3.1,
- but that is far behind us and the problem remains. As the warranty
- is just about up we very much desire this be fixed.
-
- What we have is vertical red lines about 1/8 " apart and only in
- the white color. IBM has replaced the adapter many times but the
- problem always reoccurs (at random times). A reboot will clear
- it.
-
- This system was installed from a standard mksysb image used on many
- other systems without this problem. This is the only machine with
- red lines. The startup files for X (xinitrc, .Xdefaults, .mwmrc)
- are standard also. The /usr/lpp/X11/lib/X11/rgb.txt file is the same
- as anywhere else. Only users on this system have the problems.
-
- The local IBM help has been unable to come up with any suggestions
- other than replace the adpater, change the monitor, change the cable!,
- reinstall the system. I am just about ready for the latter and I
- can accept this as a configuration problem with the X software if
- I had a clue as to where to look.
-
- Has anybody else seen this problem and if so, do you know the solution?
-
- Thanks kindly for your help.
