- i have a type-5 keyboard on a ss-ipx running 4.1.2. none of the 'extra'
- keys (volume, mute, brightness, page up, page, down, delete, insert,
- etc.) worked after i installed it. (this was after two keyboards
- arrived in about 10 pieces each but that's another story).
-
- the literature i got with the keyboard said to call sun support if my
- eeprom level was at or below 2.4 so i called sun support (800-usa4sun)
- and they said they thought i needed 2.6 and sunos 4.1.2 and a patch
- to work properly but they couldn't send it to me as it was not yet
- shipping and to to call my sales rep to see if i could get the 'patch
- cd'. my sales rep says he has no idea what sun support is talking
- about.
-
- so, i have some of the keys working under openwindows due to forensic
- use of xev and judicious application of xmodmap. however, some keys
- don't have a symbol. it would be Really Nice if they worked without
- my having to hack at things. and if they worked in console mode.
-
- does anyone know anything about this patch? there's a cd listed in the
- current sunexpress that is a patch for 4.1.1. does this work under
- 4.1.2? why do they want me to pay to fix something that should work in
- the first place? what about my sad little prom, stranded at rev level
- 2.3? will i ever be able to delete characters in console mode?
-
- my mother, on the other hand, would tell me that i should be glad most
- of the keys work...
-
- thanks in advance for your help.
