  13. We have a SPARC IPX and are running X-windows/motif with a 24 bit color
  14. monitor.

  16. Image display is too slow.  Is there a way to improve speed by going
  17. from a 24 bit  driver (I presume the one it is using now) to an 8 bit 
  18. driver (how ?)  cgsix v/s cgtwelve ??

  20. Does it make sense (anyone done this ? how difficult ?) to have a cray 
  21. compute the image on the screen and send it directly instead of having
  22. the
  23. sparc do it.  Right now the sparc display time is the slowest (slower than
  24. an fft on the cray).  The display is in a "standard sized" X-window.

  26. In general, how does one go about speeding up the display update.

  28. The speed from the cray <-> sparc is 200 kbytes/sec but we may be able
  29. to raise it 600 kbytes/sec if we can figure out how to re-route the
  30. Ethernet (I guess there is a fault somewhere in between).
