- We have a SPARC IPX and are running X-windows/motif with a 24 bit color
- monitor.
-
- Image display is too slow. Is there a way to improve speed by going
- from a 24 bit driver (I presume the one it is using now) to an 8 bit
- driver (how ?) cgsix v/s cgtwelve ??
-
- Does it make sense (anyone done this ? how difficult ?) to have a cray
- compute the image on the screen and send it directly instead of having
- the
- sparc do it. Right now the sparc display time is the slowest (slower than
- an fft on the cray). The display is in a "standard sized" X-window.
-
- In general, how does one go about speeding up the display update.
-
- The speed from the cray <-> sparc is 200 kbytes/sec but we may be able
- to raise it 600 kbytes/sec if we can figure out how to re-route the
- Ethernet (I guess there is a fault somewhere in between).
- Thanks,
- Erach
