- Since I installed IRIX 4.0.5 my console has been displaying the message
-
- INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly. Check for possible errors.
- id: co "/etc/gl/conslog"
-
- every few minutes. This basically makes the console window unusable
- and obscures any other messages that might appear there, so it is a
- real nuisance.
-
- I imagine that the problem relates to the following line in /etc/inittab:
-
- co:23:respawn:/etc/gl/conslog
-
- but the file /etc/gl/conslog doesn't exist, and even the directory
- /etc/gl is absent. Is this something I should have installed but missed?
-
- I've been in touch with the TAC about this, but we aren't getting anywhere.
- They seem to think that it is a modem problem, but since they only call
- after 17:00 here when I am getting ready to go home, we haven't had much
- time to work on it. (The last call was at 18:15 after I had been working
- late, and the caller was surprised that I didn't want to hang around and
- work on the problem right then. So he asked when I got in in the morning.
- My answer was 09:00 local time, that's 05:00 in California. He never
- called back!)
