  12. Since I installed IRIX 4.0.5 my console has been displaying the message

  14. INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly.  Check for possible errors.
  15. id:  co "/etc/gl/conslog"

  17. every few minutes.  This basically makes the console window unusable 
  18. and obscures any other messages that might appear there, so it is a
  19. real nuisance.

  21. I imagine that the problem relates to the following line in /etc/inittab:

  23. co:23:respawn:/etc/gl/conslog
  24.  
  25. but the file /etc/gl/conslog doesn't exist, and even the directory
  26. /etc/gl is absent.  Is this something I should have installed but missed?

  28. I've been in touch with the TAC about this, but we aren't getting anywhere.
  29. They seem to think that it is a modem problem, but since they only call
  30. after 17:00 here when I am getting ready to go home, we haven't had much 
  31. time to work on it.  (The last call was at 18:15 after I had been working
  32. late, and the caller was surprised that I didn't want to hang around and
  33. work on the problem right then.  So he asked when I got in in the morning.
  34. My answer was 09:00 local time, that's 05:00 in California.  He never 
  35. called back!)
