  10. I just spent the day at an IEEE Local network conference where the
  11. topic was SNMP.  At this confernece it was mentioned that a bare bones
  12. SNMP agent could be squeezed into 4k of memory and a full blown agent
  13. would be approximately 10-12k.  Does anyone at novell know if Novell
  14. is planning an ODI SNMP agent?  Network management is a key concern at my
  15. organization and SNMP is the method of choice, only one choice really.
  16. In its basic form it should be able to provide stats on the nic including
  17. nic mfg, dos version, ipx version, shell version.  Some great options
  18. would be disable nic, test nic.  If something like this is available in
  19. the public domain all the better.  Is this an issue with anyone else?
  20. I am using a lot of Cabletron nics and they have an SNMP agent that works
  21. alright as long as you don't do too much 3270 emulation.  When a card begins
  22. to chatter it is disabled by the staff in the network operations center and 
  23. the nic is promptly replaced then serviced off the main lan.  Cabletron's 
  24. SNMP only works with their card, well maybe some clarkson driver nics also.
