- I've upgraded a machine to 3.0, then decided that I wanted to make it a
- netinfo server (it was previously standalone, but connected to the net).
-
- I disconnected the network, rebooted, then ran SimpleNetworkStarter.
- Clicked on the "become a netinfo server" (or whatever it says), then
- clicked continue.
-
- Things seem OK until after the point where it prompts for the password for
- adding new machines. After that the program instantly dies (no panels
- requesting that the machine be reconnected to the network, as the online
- manual suggests).
-
- Are these panels supposed to appear, or is the documentation already out
- of date?
-
- After this, I haven't been able to get the machine past the "Unable to
- find parent netinfo server..." bottleneck, despite rebooting 15 or 20
- times. There is also no sign of the root domain in /etc/netinfo having
- been created.
-
- I was able to make the machine back into a standalone using
- SimpleNetworkStarter...
-
- Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
