  12. I've upgraded a machine to 3.0, then decided that I wanted to make it a  
  13. netinfo server (it was previously standalone, but connected to the net).

  15. I disconnected the network, rebooted, then ran SimpleNetworkStarter.   
  16. Clicked on the "become a netinfo server" (or whatever it says), then  
  17. clicked continue.

  19. Things seem OK until after the point where it prompts for the password for  
  20. adding new machines.  After that the program instantly dies (no panels  
  21. requesting that the machine be reconnected to the network, as the online  
  22. manual suggests).

  24. Are these panels supposed to appear, or is the documentation already out  
  25. of date?

  27. After this, I haven't been able to get the machine past the "Unable to  
  28. find parent netinfo server..." bottleneck, despite rebooting 15 or 20  
  29. times.  There is also no sign of the root domain in /etc/netinfo having  
  30. been created.

  32. I was able to make the machine back into a standalone using  
  33. SimpleNetworkStarter...
  34.  
  35. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
