- In article <873@rtbrain.rightbrain.com>,
- glenn@rightbrain.com (Glenn Reid), who is being portrayed
- by Jack Reynolds, writes:

- Hopefully this time around Glenn will take more vigorous action -
- like breaking your fingers or something. I don't know if you read
- these groups (apparently not), but Netnews is _not_ there for
- companies to make profit from. Self-serving advertisements certainly
- qualify as commercial for-profit usage. While on one group we have
- a discussion about whether we should post prices or not, on another
- we've got Jack Reynolds saving RightBrain a couple thousand by
- posting 4 page advertisements to the network rather than buying
- space in NeXTWorld. There is a _very_ large gray area covering
- the space between entirely non-commercial posts and fully-commercial
- posts. You are not even _close_ to that gray area.
-
- If we wanted to know about PasteUp, we would ask. If you want to
- tell us about it, you could mention in the next PasteUp press
- release that this document is available by sending email to
- reynolds@rightbrain.com. It really isn't that hard. I've seen
- nothing like what you post from any of your competitors, so it's
- obviously not impossible.
-
- [To those of you who may think I'm coming down a little hard, an
- excuse ... I've had a couple posts over the last few weeks which
- I thought skirted dangerously close to being for-profit. I went
- over them with a fine-toothed comb reworking them to be as generally
- applicable as possible, and left them on my system for a couple
- days so that I could make absolutely certain that they looked
- acceptable in the life of a new morning. With this one post Jack
- has probably posted an equivalent amount of hype to what everyone
- else posted this month. And, not only does he post it, he _brags_
- about how he snuck behind his boss' back to do it. Grrr ...]
