- Hi Scott!
-
- Just wait when I send you MY shareware fee... ;-)
-
- Most countries in Europe use the Giro system which is widespread and painless,
- but the US hasn't caught onto it yet :-)
-
- Otherwise, the best way is to use a credit card. Different countries have
- different banking policies, and what applies in the Netherlands does not
- neccessarily apply here, and the opposite. For me to send a 'postCheque'
- as one poster advised, costs more than most shareware licenses do...
- And I have experienced that:
-
- 1) The US bank (sometimes) charges to cash it anyway (doesn't sound legal...)
- 2) The one receiving the payment doesn't realize that they have received payment.
-
- This is irritating when I subscribe to magazines (Bass Player, for example).
- Every time I send payment I go 3 months without an issue and with letters
- demanding payment, despite the fact that they have received payment long before
- (nothing against Bass Player, BTW - it's a really great magazine :-)
-
- One US company went so far as to deny that they had received payment, and when
- I sent them a copy of my receipt they sent it back with a note: Not considered
- prrof of payment (probably because they didn't understand Norwegian and
- weren't smart enough to read the 'from:' 'to:' 'amount:' feilds...;-)
- So I lost both my money and the product :-(
-
- Wire transfers cost money - again, usually on both sides.
- And don't think that because I pay $30 to send you $5, that _your_ bank won't
- also demand $30 to cash it...! Remember what business banks are in.
-
- Sorry I don't have any more concrete advice! I think a credit card is best -
- but doesn't really help you in your situation.
-
- Regards,
- Thor
