  17.      Earlier this year I received the following piece of mail from a  
  18. friend who had pulled it off of the next news group in late 1991 (I  
  19. think).  Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of this  
  20. before and if so what were the developments?  As I am looking into a new  
  21. hard drive this would seem like a good lead to follow (assuming it  
  22. exists).  You can reply via email or post it if you think others would  
  23. benefit.  Thanks a lot for the help.

  64. In my quest for a good drive buy, I came across this drive from 
  65. Micropolis.  After checking into it and comparing against other 
  66. drives, this drive is really something!!!...

  68. According to the data sheet, is should fit into a NeXTstation...

  71. Quantum (which most seem to think is quiet ~35db).

  73. However, the drive isn't available until the end of this year.  
  74. Micropolis Sales told me that engineering samples for
  75. they start full production and will sell for <$1000 (prob. $999.95).
  76. So for 1/2 the price of getting a 340MB instead of a 105MB, you
  77. get 1GB + 105MB.  You can get the 105 a case, power supply, & 
  78. cable and use it as a portable hard disk (for taking your 
  79. work home [or home to work]).
