  10. Here are some news on AutoDoubler 2.0 for those who are interested.

  13. AD 2.0 will compress/decompress about 25% faster than 1.07.
  14. AD 2.0 will come with CopyDoubler. This is an extension that will allow the use
  15. r to copy files in the Finder about 2-3 times faster. It will also allow the co
  16. pying of files without decompressing them first.
  17. AD 2.0 will allow files to be transferred over the network without decompressin
  18. g them first.
  19. AD 2.0 will contain some interface changes - including a bar graph to show how
  20. much of the disk is compressed.
  21. AD 2.0 will contain a feature similar to screen savers - a compress now and a d
  22. on't compress corner - user adjustable, of course.
  23. AD 2.0 will allow the compression of extensions and control panels. This featur
  24. e is normally off and only those INITS specified by the user will be compressed
  25. .
  26. AD 2.0 will also allow compressed applications/inits/cdevs to be run on systems
  27.  without AD 2.0 - This is similar to More Disk Space.

  29. To the best of my knowledge AD 2.0 is not yet shipping. I've called MacConnecti
  30. on and MacZone and they haven't heard anything about a new version yet. To be f
  31. air the AOL News Release where I got this info from said that it would be shipp
  32. ing in September.

  35. Personally, I'm waiting for AD 2.0 eagerly. I've used AD 1.07 now for 3 months
  36. and I love it.

  40.  MacConnection or MacZone. Although MacZone is taking orders for it already. Th
  41. e price is $94.
