- The internal hard drive of my Classic 4/40 refuses to boot
- with system 7.0.1, and instead gives an assortment of happy macs
- and questionable disks (the disks with the ? in it, not disks
- which are of themselves questionable in some manner) and
- finally a sad mac with the sad mac code of:
-
- 00000063
- 0000000F
-
- It will, however, boot quite happily with system 6.0.7, and I
- can boot from my external hard drive (Quantum 105) with
- a copy of the very same system 7.0.1, so I doubt that it's
- a corrupted system file (yes I'm properly deblessing the
- system 6.0.7 (removing it completely has no effect), I've
- reformatted the drive both with the Apple HD Set Up and with
- ETC Tools, and as soon as I can possibly get some high density
- disks in this godforsaken backwater community I'll try a fresh
- clean copy of system 7.0.1)
-
- From the sad mac I assume that this is probably some sort of
- hardware error. Does anyone know just what exactly this
- particular sad mac code is supposed to mean? I didn't see it
- in the list of sad mac codes in the back of the macsbug guide.
-
- Thanks for any help,
- Robb
