- You can do the work yourself, but you might be more comfortable sending it
- out.
-
- read the folowing:
-
- Pina, Larry
- Macintosh Repair and Maintenance Secrets
- 2nd printing 1990
- Hayden books
- ISBN 0-672-48452-8
-
- the book and kit parts are in stock at:
-
- Soft Solutions
- 907 River Road, suite 98
- Eugene OR 97404
- (503) 461-1136
-
- MacsPlace also has the book (800) 555 1212 for 800 number.
-
- The Mac PS mostly uses motorola semiconductors, and some of them
- are critically spec'd. Most of my local retailers seem to have
- an aversion to motorola parts, and thus I went for the kit for my
- own ke PS.
-
- Be carefull, many of the parts on that board are mystery-meat, that
- is, they are not labeled and have no specs know outside apple
- (which isnt talking). Notable are the trim pots. Gronk one
- accidentally and you will have to reverse engineer the board
- just to determine the wattage rating so that you can then spend
- the next several days buried in a gold book looking up a
- replacement part. Then starts the fun of finding a jobber
- who will sell you just the 1 you need.
-
-
- Pina is thorough, but some of the photos are mislabeled,
- and the index is nearly useless. Read the whole thing. Twice
- at least, and then read it again. If you can afford to,
- you might do well to job the work out.
-
- Do be carefull and discharge the picture tube properly, as
- the risks are real.
-
- Good luck.
