- But a mac *serial* cable (what the original poster asked about) isn't the
- same as either a "Super VHS" cable or a Mac ADB cable.
-
- BTW, the proper term is "S-video" cable, *not* "Super VHS" cable.
- S-video, which refers to a standard for transmitting a video
- signal with seperate brightness and color information, has nothing to do
- with VHS or SVHS. Laserdisc players, 8mm camcorders, etc. all have
- S-video inputs and/or outputs (and I think 8mm even predated SVHS).
-
- Of course, so many TV manufacturers and SVHS VCR manufacturers are
- propogating the term "Super VHS cable" that it'll catch on, just like the
- "fact" that Bill Clinton raised taxes 127 times :-) A lot of the TV
- manufacturers would even have you believe that you *need* an "SVHS ready"
- TV to use an SVHS VCR. That's about as accurate as saying that you need
- "digital speakers" to listen to a CD player.
