  14. I am trying to help my best friend install a new Quantum Prodrive
  15. 210S on his MAC II.  He is actually replacing the orginal 40 MB
  16. 5-1/4" Quantum that came with the system.  The new drive is jumpered
  17. for Drive 0 (no jumpers on A0, A1 and A2) and Parity Enabled (EP).

  19. Apple's HD formatting program (System 6.08) does not recognize the
  20. new drive as Drive 0 or an working external 60 MB "EasyDrive"
  21. as Drive 7; hence, will not format the new drive.  The third party
  22. formatting software that came with the EasyDrive recognizes the
  23. new drive as Drive 0 and it appears to format it, but there are data
  24. errors when I try to copy between the external drive and the new
  25. internal drive.

  27. I probably have a classic terminating resistor problem, but I
  28. thought I could exchange one Quantum for another without having to
  29. change the terminating resistor configuration.  The other
  30. possibility other than a new drive that is bad is the wrong
  31. formatting software.
