  15. Dimensional Software of Aliso Viejo, California today announced an external 
  16. package for 4th Dimension the relational database development software from 
  17. ACIUS Inc. of Cupertino, California. dbTimer allows a 4th Dimension global 
  18. procedure to be placed into the background and set to run at a user specified 
  19. time of day or interval of time. Multiple procedures can be placed into the 
  20. background each configured to run at a different time or interval. Using this 
  21. package users could be automatically logged off a database at certain times 
  22. of day to allow database backups to be performed or procedures could be run 
  23. that make connections to other mainframe computers at preset intervals to 
  24. update the local or remote databases. This package could also be used to 
  25. access laboratory equipment at certain intervals and gather data to be 
  26. processed by the database.

  28. The procedures placed into the background can perform any operation 
  29. available through the 4th Dimension language and are only limited by the 
  30. developers imagination. Dimensional Software also includes SimpleMail, a 
  31. simple electronic mail program implemented using 4th Dimension and dbTimer. 
  32. SimpleMail can be incorporated into existing 4th Dimension databases royalty 
  33. free.

  36. be offering an introductory price for dbTimer until November 15, 1992.
