- "I've heard that the Toshiba 4400 is a good system--what is
- comparable to this?"
-
- "There really is nothing comparable to this!"
-
- I agree -- is you can afford it, this is the machine to get in today's
- market. The active matrix color display is a big win, as are the
- nickel hydride battery and Toshiba's outstanding factory service. The
- fact that this manufacturer will be around next year is no small
- consideration either.
-
- One small but very important characteristic of this machine for me is
- that the CONTROL key is placed where God and Teletype intended it, to
- the left of the A key. (I know about key-remap TSRs, but they seem to
- fall apart under take-the-machine programs like Windows.)
-
- The only things I would wish of a notebook that Toshiba doesn't offer
- is some sort of integral pointing device (trackball, J key, whatever),
- and an option to use flash RAM for secondary storage instead of a hard
- disk. Rumor has it that the latter will be introduced by some
- manufacturers at COMDEX.
