-
- There really is nothing comparable to this! The only drawback to the 4400SXC
- is that it is heavier than most notebooks at 7.5 lbs. You can pick one up
- in the area (try Connecting Point on El Camino near California) for around
- $3800. It is the only active matrix color notebook with a 486, and has the
- longest battery life. In this price range there is also the Compaq Lite-25C
- (6.5lbs), the Sharp 8800 series (5.9 lbs), and NEC 386SLC (7lbs). These
- three use the 386SL processor at 25MHZ, except for the Sharp, which is at
- 20MHZ. The battery life is quite a bit less, and they don't weigh that much
- less. They are also quite a bit slower.
-
- There are passive matrix color notebooks under $3000, but the screen quality
- is poor.
-
- I would strongly suggest you get your hands on the August issue of PC Magazine.
- They did an extensive review on 80 notebooks and portables, including color
- machines. Also, stop by Connecting Point and check out the
- machines. They have the best selection, and have fairly decent prices. They
- sell notebook computers and peripherals.
