- The utility program, scheck, that comes with Stacker 2.0 (along with some of
- the other utility programs) tells you what your compression ratio is. I get
- 2.0 on my regular drive and 1.6 on my games drive. This is no lie. The size
- of the total disk is assumed (by Stacker) at installation to be twice the size
- of the unstackered drive but this may be changed later if you find that it is
- far from the amount that actually fits on the drive.

- What version is he running? I run Stacker 2.0 and it multiplies the actual
- free space on the drive by the compression ratio (the one reported by scheck
- et al) to get the space free. I have always found it to report the correct
- amount. It is true that if you subtract the amount stored from the assumed
- disk size, the number is wrong. This is NOT however, the space free. If you
- explicitly ask DOS how much space is free, you will get the correct number.
