- If you're interested in diverse small computers (including Unix supermicros)
- probably Byte would be a good choice. It has faded some from past glory, now
- devoting a lot of space to advertising and buyers' guide reviews for business
- applications, but they have two advantages over something like PC Magazine:
-
- 1. Coverage of a variety of hardware platforms. PC's seem to be covered
- most.
-
- 2. Coverage of general technical developments, both hardware and software.
- I learned here about Pascal, Lisp, Smalltalk, and a lot of other software
- tools before they became popular. They also have very good hardware technology
- articles. Regular stuff about new microprocessors, LAN technologies, you
- name it.
-
- BYTE should be available on newsstands in the .ca domain.
