- I recently called ATI about the Ultra Graphics Pro and the Ultra Graphics +.
- Both of these adapters are not going to be shipped until the last week
- in September. Here is a summary of features that apply to both cards:
-
- Available in ISA, EISA, Microchannel (not local bus)
- 1Meg ram is standard, upgradable to 2Meg
- True Color (16.7 million) at 800x600
- 1024x768 at 65,000 colors (accelerated and noninterlaced)
- basic functionality of Graphics Ultra
-
- Ultra PRO:
- Winmark of 25.5 million (existing Graphics Ultra is 9 million)
- non-interlaced accelerated at 1280x1024 with 256 colors
- uses VRAM
- priced from $599 (from ATI)
-
- Ultra +:
- Winmark of 21 million
- interlaced at 1280x1024 (I don't think it is accelerated)
- uses DRAM
- priced from $399
-
- A local bus version is not available. They did tell me that they do
- make a local bus card for Gateway. However, ATI would not tell me any
- of the specs. The people at Gateway did not know much about the card.
- The only thing that they could tell me was that a ATI New Generation card
- was going in the local bus of the 66Mhz DX2. They said it was about
- 3 times faster than the Graphics Ultra.
