  16. I suggest you check out a place called EmPac, they have a place in Golden 
  17. vally and I believe one in bloomington.
  18.    One my desk at work sits a 486-33 DX with 4 Meg Ram 105 Meg Hard drive
  19. (which is to small!) and a SVGA monitor (and both floppys 5.25 & 3.5)
  20. The current EmPac price for this is $1699.

  22.   They have a wide range of options and you can pretty much have them build
  23. whatever you want.  If you were me, you would get the following system for
  24. home use:
  25. 486-50 DX   (not the DX2 )
  26. 256k cache  (my system at work has no cache, it hits 51 on the norton v4.5 SI)
  27. Local Bus VGA  (this makes windows run ~10x faster)
  28. Non interlace Multi-scan SVGA monitor W 1Meg card (1024x768 x256 colors)
  29. 240Meg drive (no drive is big enough for me)
  30. Both floppys

  32. What I just described Empac would sell for about $3K.

  35. would get if I had to start from scratch.
