  14.    I'm looking for a communication s/w allowing external filtering of
  15. incoming data. I like to enter Korean BBS in Korea which use Korean letters
  16. represented in two 8bit codes. Modem port at my school does not allow
  17. 8bit/char transmission so that MSB of Korean code is stripped off when
  18. transmitted over phone line from my school to my home. I think I can still
  19. read Korean characters at home on my PC if I have a communication program
  20. with external filter option of incoming data.

  22.    My idea is as following. On my unix host, I can filter incoming data from
  23. Korea to get 7bit encoded code for Korean by 'telnet BBS_address_in Korea 
  24. | filter'  . Now, from my unix host at school to my PC on my home, 7bit/char.
  25. data will be transmitted without problem. On PC side, I can filter incoming
  26. 7bit data to get original 8bit Korean character if there's any comm. program
  27. with external filtering functionality of incoming data.  Of course, I have a
  28. program to display Korean characters on my PC. Hence, all I need is 
  29. a communication s/w allowing ext. filtering.
