- Some of the early 16550 chips had various problems. The 16550AFN is the
- completely debugged version. You needn't worry much though. Any new
- product you buy is almost certainly going to have a new chip in it. It's
- been a long time since the older, buggy verions were available. You might
- want to look out for 16550 clones though. Some of these have serious
- problems. By the way, the chip is now known as the PC16550CN, but it also
- carries the NS16550AFN number on it as well.
