- Here's an odd one:
-
- I have an 80 Meg Connor (sez type 27) drive. I forget the model number,
- but it's an IDE 1" height drive.
-
- I've determined that the geometry works as 833 x 6 x 33. At least I get
- no errors when I use these settings.
-
- The problem comes when I run FDISK. I make a partition, exit FDISK, and
- try to FORMAT the drive. "Invalid drive specification". Go back in with
- FDISK, enter "4" (display partition info), and there is no partition.
-
- Can do it as many times as I like, but the partition does not stay. No error
- messages from FDISK. I tried using Disk Manager to partition it also.
- Basically the same thing happened. I used DM to Verify the surface (not
- initialize), and it came out 100% ok. No errors.
-
- Anyone know what's going on? Also, the PC is a 286/20 with AMI BIOS dated
- about 1989.
-
- Thanks,
- PTR...
