- I'm planning to buy a 486 system for home use where I want fast Windows
- performance, a high quality (probably 17" or larger) color monitor, fast
- disk I/O, a high quality laser printer, high-speed (fax)modem and a
- reliable tape backup subsystem. I've been talking with a number of
- salespeople & friends, and so far this is what I've come up with:
- 486/50 DX cpu w/256K cache
- Sony 17" 1604 monitor
- Fujitsu M2624FA SCSI disk
- Bustek SCSI controller
- Orchid Fahrenheit graphics
- Keytronics keyboard
- brand X mouse
- Brother HL10V laser printer w/2MB RAM
- 3.5" & 5.25" floppies
- USR Sportster 14.4 faxmodem
- and the usual serial & parallel I/O ports, etc.
-
- If *you* were putting together a high performance system for your home use,
- and had to get it in the next 2 weeks, what would you do differently than
- I've selected?
-
- Thanks in advance!
