- I just ordered a 16550 for my computer.. I got mine from B.G. Micro,
- they offered the 16550 plus the 1488 & 1489 for $13.50 + 3.25 S&H.
- I assume the 1488 & 1489 are just the support chips needed to add a serial
- port to some cards, I didn't need mine though, I was just replacing
- a 16450.

- BTW - I'm not affiliated w/ B.G. at all, and yes it was the newest chip.
- Mine had both 16550AFN, and PC16550 printed on it.
