- After talking with the HP response center, it appears that there is no
- easy way to get this information from fbackup/frecover. It doesn't look
- like it is going to be a feature of HP-UX 9.0 at this point since the
- work on that is all but done, however I did find out that there is an SR
- (#1653026310) for this feature. Some people have used awk scripts or du
- to get the numbers off directory listings, however I know from wc -l on
- the index file that I've backed up more than 180,000 files on various
- file systems and machines. I'm not going to invoke awk/ll/du that many
- times to find out the tape usage!
-
- Perhaps HP will put this feature in fbackup/frecover if enough people
- scream. Here's you chance. Write down the SR number and let them know
- you want to know how full your tape is/was.
-
- NOTE: If you don't have the latest patch to fbackup/frecover you should
- get it. Your backups/archives may not be safe if written with an old
- version! Use the what command on /etc/fbackup and /etc/frecover to make
- sure they are 70.26. My /etc/fbackup was, but /etc/frecover was still
- at 66.18.1.31. Don't ask me how they got that way, but frecover had a
- date NEWER than fbackup.
