- : In the week since the upgrade to 8.07 I have not noticed the phantom
- : load (but I think that it has gone). So my advice is to upgrade to 8.07.
- :
- I wish I could say that that will make it better...I have seen this at
- various times since 6.5(on a 300) and on 8.05 AND 8.07 (S700) I have a 720
- with 64MB, standalone and have seen it. My suspect some type of memory
- leak...as I use Framemaker 3.0 and it has a known leak, and it is possible
- that some other X program does as well, or the X server....I have only
- seen it once and cleaning up things and rebooting seemed to make it go
- away....it is weird, in that the machine is not bothered by it...(doesn't
- get slower) and you can put a 'load' on it with not much effect...(e.g. 1.5,
- 2.0)
-
- I also noticed that when this happened, monitor was reporting a lot of memory
- usage (I use VUE, sharedX, Frame and keep quite a few windows and remote
- connections...)...then after the reboot and restarting just about everything
- that was running before, there is less memory usage....
-
- Someday in my copius(sp) spare time I will have to look into this. :-)
