- I seem to remember seeing this from a parallel printer being used on a
- 300-series system at 7.05 (you don't say what system or OS revision you're
- running). I'd start by checking the model script - from what I remember,
- the laserJet scripts check to see if the printer is serial (and use stty
- commands for port setting if so), otherwise assume it's HP-IB and use
- slp for print setups. I suspect that's where your error 1 is coming from -
- just modify the printer model script in /usr/spool/lp/model/<printername>
- and remove the slp command if so.
