- I'm searching for ideas regarding how one would maintain a DAT archive
- such that the files in this archive could be occasionally updated
- (replaced) without the need to re-create the entire archive?
-
- Several weeks ago, an archive of compressed tar files was moved into
- off-line storage using an HP35470A DAT drive and the following cmd:
-
- /etc/fbackup -i/users/ftp/dist -n -f/dev/rmt/0m -I./DIST.out
-
- Now, one of the files saved in this archive needs to be replaced with a
- newer version. It is not apparent how this can be accomplished without
- restoring all the files (the archive) to disk, replacing the target file
- and then, once again, writing the archive to tape. This is especially
- troublesome since I no longer have the necessary disk space to do this.
-
- All suggestions and comments are welcome!
