- Hi
-
- I'm having a DECstation 5120 with a SCSI-floppydisk, on which I should
- be able to use floppy's with a capasity of 2.88M.
-
- When I'm going to format a disk (type RX26K - 4.0M) I get into problems:
- mari11:/dev%newfs /dev/rfd0c RX26
- newfs: /dev/rfd0a: cannot open to read partition table: I/O error
- Warning: missing disk partition table
- newfs: /dev/rfd0c: cannot open: I/O error
-
-
- I'm not giving up but hopefully try:
- mari11:/dev%rzdisk -f /dev/rfd0c
-
- Must specify raw device special file.
-
-
- Since I'm not sure of the difference of raw/char/block-device I try:
- mari11:/dev%rzdisk -f /dev/fd0c
-
- Must specify raw device special file.
-
-
- If I try to format a 1.4M floppy disk:
- mari11:/dev%newfs /dev/rfd0c rx23
- /dev/rfd0c: 2880 sectors in 80 cylinders of 2 tracks, 18 sectors
- 1.5Mb in 5 cyl groups (16 c/g, 0.29Mb/g, 32 i/g)
- super-block backups (for fsck -b#) at:
-
-
- So that runs fine..
-
- If anyone could help to format a 2.88M floppy, please let me know,
- I would be very grateful.
