- This is bullsh*t. (Excusez le mot). I worked at a
- company during my vacation where some LASER 286
- and 386 were used, with extended (or expanded,
- see, what a stupid system?) memory of about 3 MB.
- The old programs were too stupid to notice it and
- it cost a few days ($$$$$$$!!!!!) to get the thing
- set up right. And even now things don't work well.
- Now take an Atari. You plug in more memory (or
- have it soldered in, those PC slots are a good
- idea, true). You take any program, and hey presto!
- It uses the memory AUTOMATICALLY. No config.sys.

- Borland OK, but if big nasty ugly Microsoft and Lotus, or maybe even
- WordPerfect Corp would lay their hands on poor Atari, I'd have nowhere
- else to go but Archimedes. Look here, people who wish to use dogs like
- dBASE, WP or Lotus shouldn't but an Atari. We don't want PC software
- clones on our nice computer. We want nice, GEM-using, Atari specific
- programs, which can import and export to the formats of WP and Lotus,
- for example, anyway. The stupid software available for PC's are one of
- the main reasons I DON'T WANT ONE. I can tell, I've had to work with
- the programs I mentioned. And as I said before, I'd trade WP for even
- the oldest version of First Word Plus. (I bet you're thinking of the
- many features that one doesn't have and WP does, but I'm talking about
- the user interface. And there are many ST wordprocessors which have as
- many functions as WP, for less than half the price. Gee, I just
- thought of another reason not to buy PC's. Sure, you get a 786-100GHz
- machine for under xxx$, but you'll have to spend about the price of
- the machine itself for a wordprocessor. Stupid. Unless of course, you
- do as many (almost all) PC users and get yourself an illegal copy.)
-
- A bit of a hasy posting, and I'll probably get flamed for it. But I'll
- happily sacrifice myself for getting people to understand that Atari
- users generally WANT Atari's and their programs, or they'd have bought
- a PC in the first place.
