- Well, I just HAVE to give my reasons for buying a Falcon...
-
- It's cheap...
- It'll run Spectre GCR I'm sure even if David Small has to hammer it into
- it so there's no problem with a software shortage...
- The best reason to buy IBM is for all the free pirated warez you can
- get... AHOY MATEYS!
- I'm a musician and that DSP is better than most samplers that cost
- twice as much and I can even play tetris with it...
- My Atari ST that I bought in late 1985 has not gathered dust yet...
- I'd like Atari to prosper and I don't think they will but I do think
- they will survive, like it or not, so I'm not afraid of my toy
- becoming an antique until it ought to.
- I've got to get something to tide me over until I can afford an Indigo...
- Even if Atari bites the big one, I'm computer literate enough to keep
- my trusty Falcon going for many years yet...
- A similar argument as to why one should buy IBM can be made about the
- macintosh except that they throw in a free snooty attitude... Back in
- the good old days when I worked at a computer store which didn't sell
- Apple stuff, we could spot the mac users as they entered the store
- and would on occasion tell them we didn't carry apple stuff before they
- could open their mouth to ask the question. God was that fun.
- They looked like a deer in headlights when you did that to 'em...
- IBM and Apple have no imaginations and this is the real reason I won't
- buy either of them...
- My Atari 800 from 1980 hasn't kicked the bucket yet either...
- My Atari Lynx is an amazing techno wonder which has made travel
- loads more fun
- My Atari VCS from 1977 hasn't kicked the bucket yet and I still like some
- of the games now and then...
- My Atari Portfolio is a neat toy, and comes in handy for taking notes
- at conferences although I really ought to get it some memory...
- My Atari 7800 from 1988 has some really cool games and with the Big-Lots
- buyout of all the software, I was able to acquire most of them...
- As for serious computing, I laugh at anything under 10 MFLOPS but that
- Falcon will make one hell of a word processor/synthesizer/video game/
- terminal/graphics toy/Mathematica Machine.
-
- I'll be happy with it, and if anything more imaginative comes out (Hint
- Hint Commodore dudes) I'll buy that too...
-
- So hit me with your techie geekoid arguments that the Falcon is
- a commie plot to subvert computerdom... I don't care about them,
- I'll just ignore them because I know what I like in a computer...
- I wish the Falcon had a faster CPU, but I'm sure that will be possible...
- If commodore comes out with something better, then more power to
- them, and less money in my bank account... Apple or IBM release
- a truly cool computer? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
