- You should be concerned, and you should pay attention. All of the
- information released with Apple Writer 2.1 on GEnie _CLEARLY_ indicates
- that Apple Writer is not in the public domain.
-
- Let me repeat that, because it doesn't seem to be sinking in: APPLE WRITER
- IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. Paul Lutus has agreed that it may be freely
- distributed, but he retains ALL rights to the program.
-
- APPLE WRITER IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. And Paul Lutus does care when
- people rip off his work.

-
- (Ahem) Dizbrow's contact with Apple's legal department seems to have
- consisted of "Can we do this?" Response: "No." Diz: "Write to Sculley."
-
- Dizbrow has no concept of how to get things done -- if his mailman is late
- one day, he writes to the Postmaster General.
-
- Writing to John Sculley for permission to use Apple trademarks (like "GS")
- in your products is pretty futile; he'll just send your request to the
- legal department. No one's going to confuse "PageWriter" for a non-GS
- version, since there isn't one. Try just calling it "PageWriter for the
- Apple IIgs," which is perfectly legal.
-
- As Apple's trademark guidelines would have told you, had you actually
- asked legal for a copy of them.
