- Bruce Anderson asks:
-
- Where do I get ProDOS 2.x?
- Is the ZIP for the 8 bit Apples any good?
- Is the AE TransWarp any better?
- Is there a CHEAP hard drive out there that I can use with this?
- I've been hearing quite a bit lately about a ProDOS init
- for the Mac. Could someone tell me:
-
- #1: how to get it (and WHERE!)
- #2: what are the system requirements? (LC w/ //e card?)
- #3: why no-one made one sooner? 8^)

-
- ProDOS 2.0 was released as part of GS/OS 6.0, and has not, (to the best of
- my knowledge) been released separately. If you've got a friend with a
- IIGS, get it from him.
-
- The //e Zip Chip works GREAT!! I've had one for 3 years. The early
- versions were garbage, but quality control is much better now.
-
- The TransWarp card is a tad slower than a ZIP and takes up a slot. Other
- than that, there's not much difference.
-
- Get an Apple SCSI card and use ANY SCSI hard disk. When/if you choose,
- move the HD to your Mac and reformat it.
-
- I presume you mean the ProDOS FST, which allows your Mac to read Apple //
- ProDOS disks. I'm not sure when it came out, but your Apple dealer ought
- to be able to provide you with a copy. It works on ANY Mac, including my
- Levco Monster Mac with 800K drives. And just to tweak your interest, GS/OS
- 6.0 includes an HFS FST, so my Mac can read my IIGS disks and my IIGS can
- read my Mac disks. Now all we need are compatible programs........
