  15. I'm having similar problems with my Quantum 240LPS, and I've heard a number 
  16. of dissatisfied people on the net.  Symptoms: I/O would halt, and the green 
  17. LED on my controller would stay on.  The only solution was to power off and 
  18. power back on.  Sometimes that didn't work, and the system needed to "rest" 
  19. for a few minutes before the drive would work.

  21. Often, prior to the hangup, it would hang for short periods of time, then 
  22. start again, but that's always a harbinger of a full crash within a minute or 
  23. two.

  25. It seems to happen only during large amounts of I/O (examples are a wholesale 
  26. copying of one 50%-full 80-meg partition to another, and capturing a large 
  27. terminal session with no intervening input from the user).

  29. Two of my friends, each with an A3000, bought the 240LPS the same day I did, 
  30. and they have no problems.  Mine is in an A2000.  I'm reasonably sure that 
  31. the problem lies in the drive, because I replaced my A2090A controller with a 
  32. TrumpCard Professional, and the problem persists.

  34. However, I can't exclude that it is the A2000 itself, and not the drive.  I 
  35. get a green screen when I boot, which I understand means that some of my chip 
  36. RAM is flakey.  However, it's never hurt anything in the past, so I haven't 
  37. bothered to get that taken care of.  I can't exclude that that is the root of 
  38. my current problem.
