- MB seems to overlook what's going on in terms of hardware area as usually
- . The existing SCSI interface on the A3000 is a SCSI-I 8-bit interface.
- While it is nice and quick -I saw someone mentioned 3.9 meg/sec DiskSpeed
- 4 on those really FAST drives, it is a bit out of date. If they are
- indeed releasing a 32-bit SCSI, that going to be able to support even
- fast devices. The 32-bit refers to the data path from drive to
- SCSI controller on A3000, not to be confused with SCSI controller to
- DMA which is already 32-bit.

- resistor vs SCSI-II's active termination. That doesn't limit the

- But a multimedia machine using the extra resolution & colours is going
- to need a lot more hard drive bandwidth for full animation. The
- A3000 SCSI interface (DMA part is fine) is out of date pretty soon.

- An IDE interface is pretty much free. It provide pretty much the same
- performance as that of the SCSI-I. The price you pay for having both
- IDE & SCSI-II = $0 + cost of SCSI-II vs cost of having both SCSI-I
- (on motherboard) and SCSI-II 32 (and you later find out that's what
- you need).

- I would bet they can easily make up a SCSI-I that's the same as the
- A3000 if that's what everyone wants.

- I am quite happy C= seems to going to the higher end with their goal.
- The higher end chip set (vapour) with 64-bit interface and async
- operation almost sould like my A5000 description a couple of years
- back. (Still need a HDTV interface.)
