- Since we are on the subject of pricing, I just wanted to add a few thoughts.
- IBM (I don't like the word either) users can get an i486 machine complete
- for about $2000. I believe this is the "DX" machines with a 32-bit bus. A
- complete A4000 (system & monitor) would cost (using the $2900 figure above)
- roughly $3400 depending on the monitor. The difference is about $1400,
- which is significant. I feel that the Amiga is a much better machine, but
- this price difference is too large. I can afford to pay the difference, but
- there are many users out there that cannot. I just hope C= can figure out
- some way to lower prices and yet keep the same high quality, which we all
- enjoy very much. If anyone can justify the large price difference, I am
- sure everyone would like to read about it. Oh yes, my statements above
- assume that the two machines are fairly comparable as far as performance and
- standard abilities, which I believe is an accurate statement.
