- That $2900 price was pulled out of the air before the MSRP was
- announced by C=. No telling if any will be delivered at that price.
- Also none of these places have given a precise description on what
- they were promising for this figure (of course they couldn't give
- out any specs before the machine was announced by C= :-) ).
- So suppose they charge $500 extra for an A1960 monitor, or some
- other such little item. Even at $2900 the machine is no fire
- breathing dragon.
- As to the replacable processor module. Well it will certainly allow
- C= to make available lower end (68030, ... 68000) processors. But
- how much they will lower the overall price of a system, and will
- anybody buy 68020 processor modules? that remains to be seen.
- As to producing more powerfull processor modules, I wonder.
- Is the Mother Board fixed at 25MHZ? Are the components and design
- capable of running at a higher frequency? If not then thruput will
- be somewhat limited by accesses to components on the Mother Board.
- The visionary 100MHZ processors conjured up by Eggebrecht may not
- deliver much in reality to purchasers of the just announced version
- of the Amiga Motherboard, even if they are ever delivered.
