- This is my first public posting. Hopefully it will ONLY get to the
- appropriate newsgroup (comp.sys.amiga.hardware). I have a good old reliable
- Roland PR-1012. The first thing that annoyed me when I got it was that the
- smallest printer font it has was only 17cpi, so I could not print two 80-
- column listings side-by-side. Eventually, I programmed a slow program to
- dump an Amiga screen line to the printer with one of my own 4 pixel wide
- fonts. It works. I promised myself never to buy any printer that did not
- at least print a font 20cpi. What built-in font widths do these fancy
- bubble/deskjet printers have? At 300 dpi, I could imagine that one could
- print hundreds of characters across an 8 inch page -- especially if the
- printer itself had such a font. Of course, the other thing I would like
- is COLOR, but it seems like I can have that too if I get something like
- the HP DJ500C -- if I end up spending $800 for a printer, I want to be
- happy with it for quite a few years.
-
- Thanx for any feedback (or helpful criticism if my first posting like
- this did something improperly).
