-
- Actually, there is not much difference between the A3000 and A4000.
- Sure, IDE, but that isn't a concern here.
-
- The datapath (BUS) to the ECS chipset on an A3000 is indeed 32bit.
- However, the sockets for the ECS chips are 16bit. You cannot plug
- a 32bit chip in a 16bit socket. Because of the shape/size/amount
- of the new chips, it is impossilbe to replace the sockets. It just
- isn't possilbe physically.
-
- I suppose that some hack could be introduced on a daughterboard, but
- this is highly unlikely. Developers have had AA machines for a while
- now, but no 3rd party upgrade board (like megachip or something) was
- shown at WOC. Surely 3rd party companies no how bad A3000 owners
- want AGA. That's why people bought A3000 instead of A2500.
-
- Oh well. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
