- I've developed this tendency to run VLT in a window on a custom screen, along
- with a few niftyterm windows that I load up and use with dnet. I want to use
- VLT in the "WorkBench screen" mode, so I do get a separte window, rather than
- a VLT custom screen where the terminals window fills the screen and is not
- resizable and movable. Neither niftyterm nor VLT supports public screens, so
- I use ScreenManager to open up my public screen "Terms" and turn on "shanghai"
- mode so that VLT and the niftyterm windows go to that screen.
-
- So far, so good. Now, once all those windows are opened, I use ScreenManager
- to make WorkBench the default screen again, and turn off Shanghai mode, so
- that all subsequent things I open go to the workbench rather than my terms
- screen.
-
- The problems come up when either I do a plot with VLT's Tek window, or look at
- the VLT scrollback buffer. I have VLT configured to do the Tek window on a
- custom screen (interelaced - I don't want the vt100 window on an interlaced
- screen 'cause I'm a 2000 user who can't stand reading flicker for long periods
- of time). When the plot is done and the program switches back to the text
- screen, VLT puts the _Workbench_ screen forward... which, of course, is not
- where VLT is any more. Also, when I open up the scrollback buffer, I'd like
- it to go to the terms screen, mainly so that when I quite from the scrollback
- buffer the screen with VLT will still be in front.
-
- Q: is there any way I can get all this to work with VLT as it is? If not,
- what are the chances that the next VLT version will have real public screen
- support, i.e. when switching back to vt100 from the Tek window, not just
- putting the workbench screen forward, but looking to see what screen VLT is
- on? Also, what chances that the scrollback buffer will check what VLT's
- screen is even when VLT is in "WorkBench screen" mode?
-
- Thanks,
