- It sounds ominously like a flow control program.... there are two types of
- flow control you need to worry about. Local flow control is that between the
- computer and the modem... You need to use some form of control here or the
- modem will continue sending when the computer isn't ready and visa versa.
- DTR is a way of doing this, although RTS/CTS is more reliable. Then there is
- remote flow control, ie flow control between your modem and the modem you
- connect to. Again RTS/CTS is the best one to opt for here, although if you're
- not having any luck with that you could try XON/XOFF (the latter sends a
- start/stop character, so when download binary files it may cause problems if
- things aren't set up properly).

- It might also be worth trying it out with your DTE speed set to 9600, as the
- serial port on the 440 is a lot more reliable at 9600 than it is at 19200.
