  10. Ok all this discussion about 850-1000Kbytes a second has me curious.
  11. I have always used the WD/SMC supplied drivers written for PC-NFS.  The
  12. BEST I can get in performance is around 250Kbytes a second.  I do seem to
  13. recall that this was higher with more nfsd's on the sever but not
  14. significantly.  This is a lightly loaded E-Net with ONE SS1+ as the server
  15. and a bunch of PC's as clients.  The PC's are using WD/SMC 8013 16 bit
  16. cards and some of the PC's are 486/50's.  And the 486/50's aren't any
  17. faster than the 386/33's.

  19. Should I be using a Packet Driver?  Are they faster?  More optimized for
  20. the application or what?  I always assumed that was adding things I really
  21. didn't need (as we ONLY run PC-NFS) and wouldn't be as fast.
