- I need to communicate with our main frame computer on a application to
- application basis. It seems that LU6.2 and APPC would fit the bill
- perfectly but the powers to be don't think so. Therefore my boss wants
- some testimonials to success stories.
-
- We would be connecting to a SUN network using SUN's APPC software and
- SUN's HSI/S hardware. The mainframe application program would probably
- run under IMS but we would like to have the flexibility to use anything,
- including coding our own VTAM macros in an application program.
-
- Like I say, those administering the IBM mainframe computer want nothing to
- do with this and I know that we need their support for the VTAM def's
- and NCP gens and that sort of stuff.
-
- If anyone has any experiences, good or bad, with this sort of thing, I
- would appreciate hearing about it.
-
- thanks,
- Dave
