- If you are connected to the mainframe using TCP/IP, then "ftp" file
- transfer is available. "ftp" (file transfer protocol) is typically quite
- fast, reliable and very easy to use. "ftp" is a standard component
- in most IBM mainframe TCP/IP packages.
-
- If you are connecting to the host using SNA 3270 sessions, then the
- only standard, available PC to mainframe file transfer protocol is
- IND$FILE (probably even slower then KERMIT).
-
- There are a number of proprietary file transfer protocols available for
- IBM mainframes. Companies such as Legent Corp., Micro Tempus Inc.,
- DEC, and Spectrum Concepts Inc. all make proprietary file transfer
- packages which connect an assortment of different microcomputers and
- minicomputers to IBM mainframes.
