- "The Economist" magazine, issue of Aug 22nd-28th 1992, publishes two
- interesting pieces briefly arguing against the current overemphasis on
- patents: a leader titled "The harm of patents", and an article titled
- "America's patent mania" in the Business section. The latter is
- accompanied by a sidebar titled "Freeware" giving a glittering though
- very short look at Cygnus Support's flourishing business.

- I believe this material should be saved and hurled into the face of
- anybody which, in the future, should attack anti-patent proponents or
- arguments as "blue-sky anti-business socialism" or with similar terms
- of abuse; "The Economist" can be, and often is, accused of many things
- (check the recent huge thread in rec.arts.books, chock full of people
- both pro and against it), but hardly of any anti-business sentiment!
