- I have had similar problems while installing SVGA drivers, and
- found this 'trick' very useful:
- While the system is up, edit you CONFIG.SYS by adding
- the following as the *last* line:
- CALL=CMD.EXE
- Then, any time you boot up the system, *before* you get
- into the presentation manager, you get the command prompt.
- This is in text mode, so no matter what you have done to
- the display drivers, the screen will be legible. Then
- you can do your stuff patching the damage (you can edit
- your CONFIG.SYS, etc., but some things you *can't* do this
- way, eg. run CHKDSK /F ) and when you have finished, either
- re-boot (CTRL+ALT+DEL) or type EXIT which brings up the PM
- as usual.
