  46. You can usually "force" a reduction in the size of the
  47. swapfile after closing
  48. apps down by clicking MB2 on the desktop and choosing
  49. Refresh. (You may
  50. need to do this a couple of times). The DINFO package
  51. available from 
  52. software.watson.ibm.com and Hobbes (pub/os2/2.0/sysutils) is
  53. quite useful if
  54. you want to see (and hear !) the swap file shrinking and
  55. growing.

  57. As an extra bonus for me, installing and using this package
  58. resulted in my
  59. "fixed size" swap file actually starting to grow at last (A
  60. problem I had
  61. with the new kernel - "Out of memory" errors). 
  62.  
  63. As regards the swap file not shrinking back to its' original
  64. size, this is
  65. quite sensible if you think about it - you obviously needed
  66. more swap space
  67. than 2 Meg (which takes time to create) so the file doesn't
  68. go back down that
  69. far - it would only need to recreate it again sooner or
  70. later.
