  11. I did a DIR in the root of my HPFS drive and found to my surprise
  12. that some subdirectories have positive numbers on the first
  13. column to the left (this is usually 0 for both files and dirs).
  14. This column is just next to the filename.
  15.  
  16. What does this mean?  Incidentally, I saw a CMD file in one of
  17. the subdirectories that has a large (40000+) number in the first
  18. column (it is about 32k in size, as indicated by the second columni).
